programs from the excellence ceremonyCongratulations to third-grade teacher Juliane Wines who was recognized in the "Student Achievement" category at the 2018 FCPS Excellence Awards Ceremony!

The FCPS Excellence event was held at Fairfax High School on October 16 and was attended by Superintendent Dr. Scott Brabrand, members of the FCPS Leadership Team, members of the FCPS School Board, Springfield Estates Elementary School Principal Mary Randolph and other distinguished guests. Ms. Mathis was recognized during an informal reception and a formal ceremony. The following excerpt from his nomination packet was read while she received her certificate from Dr. Brabrand, Assistant Superintendent, Region 3 Terry Dade, and members of the School Board.

Julie prides herself on teaching the whole child.  She figures out what individual students need and provides those resources—be it books, extra time, practice, food, clothing, or patience--and delivers it consistently and generously until the child is successful.  She works closely with families to help them help their children.  She devotes hours of her own time to meeting the needs of the children in her class and they repay her with increased confidence, stronger skills, passing test scores, and tremendous love.  Making a difference for the children in her care is the most important part of teaching and Julie does just that day after day, year after year.

Thank you, Ms.Wines, for all you do for the students of Springfield Estates Elementary School!
