Discover SEES Top 10 Amazing Qualities
Academic Excellence
Springfield Estates fosters academic growth with a rigorous approach and Advanced Academic Programming (AAP) that challenges students to achieve their best.
Student Enrichment Programs
From Reading Buddies to Math Olympiad and MentorWorks, Springfield Estates offers numerous opportunities to grow academically and socially. Family Nights and cultural events encourage family involvement and celebrate our diverse community.
Student Clubs
Our popular Chess Club develops strategic thinking skills and provides a fun, engaging challenge for students after school. We also offer other after school programs like STEM XL, Run club, Arts and Crafts, and Coding.
During school we offer the News Show Club which gives students a unique voice in school, fostering communication skills and media awareness as they broadcast school news to peers and teachers. Another club option is our Go Green Team, which allows students to learn about taking care of our environment and how to teach others to do the same. Military Kids Club is open to all students who has a parent/guardian in the military. They can relate to others who understand what it means to be a military kid.
It's wonderful how there are so many options for all types of interest, and allows students to interact and collaborate with students they don't normally work with.
S.O.A.R.ing Values and Positive Culture
Our school embodies SOARing values (Supportive, Optimistic, Accepting, and Responsible), instilling these principles in students through daily interactions and award assemblies.
Family Connection
One of SEES core missions is to enhance parent/guardian involvement. Springfield Estates holds many activities that bring families together for fun and learning. Highlights are the 2x a year Cardboard Challenge, Heritage Night, Turkey Bingo, Literacy Night, Math Night, Saturday Book Fair, and much more.
Our Multi-Lingual Learners (MLL) Group
A team of 5th and 6th graders progressing in their English language journey—has taken on the role of mentoring younger Eagles who are also navigating school in more than one language. Watching these students connect and support each other is truly inspiring. A big thank you to our ESOL team, Ms. Bates, Ms. Berman, and Ms. Gentner, for organizing this meaningful program. Their dedication showcases how we Eagles SOAR: Supportive, Optimistic, Accepting, and Responsible. Embracing bilingualism as a strength, this program highlights the rich diversity and resilience within our school community.
Music and Performing Arts
With options for Band, Strings, and Chorus, our performing arts programs encourage students to express themselves and build confidence through music and performance.
Springfield Estates has one of the most robust band and strings programs in all of Fairfax County, with 90% of all students in grades 4-6 playing a band or strings instrument. Band and Strings classes not only provide students with understanding all of the aesthetics and camaraderie involved with music performance, the process of learning to play a musical instrument assists in reading comprehension and fluency, innate understanding of mathematical concepts, and teaches higher executive functions such as time management, organizational skills, being responsible for more than just one’s self, working with different people for a common goal, and striving for excellence. Playing a Band or Strings instrument at SEES is an integral way our Eagles SOAR!
It is truly special to see students perform showcasing such a passion for music.
We LOVE our Military Families
As a 3rd year Military Purple Star School, Springfield Estates supports our military families. Our Military Kids Club offers students of military
families a chance to connect with other students going through the same experiences of moving, new schools, and meeting new people. They do activities to have fun, connect with others, and honor each other. Each Veterans Day we host "Muffins for Military" to honor our Military Service members and their families.
Springfield Estates Has SPIRIT!
One of the best parts of SEES is involvement! We host MANY spirit days throughout the year. From SCA colors week, to Book Character Day, to hat and PJ day, to Spirit Month in December, SEES spirt is everywhere.
Nest Fest
Springfield Estates knows how to welcome everyone into the new year. Each August we host Nest Fest, that brings all our new and returning families to SEES. Families can meet teachers, get to know the school, get resources that will help them through the year, play fun games, visit food trucks, and enjoy great music.
Prior to this event we host a Nest Fiesta, which is a smaller event for our students sensitive to large crowds and loud noises. It allows all families to take part.
